Scholarships, Awards, Bursaries & Financial Planning

Students who are in their final year of high school can benefit greatly from the financial assistance that awards, scholarships, and bursaries can offer. 

scholarship is typically based on academic achievement, but may also have requirements with respect to extra-curricular or community involvement, leadership or teamwork experience, or have specific student demographic requirements. This may be annually renewable based on academic achievement at the post-secondary institution and does not require re-payment. 

bursary may have similar requirements of the student but will also require evidence of financial need. This may be annually renewable at the post-secondary institution and does not require re-payment. 

An award may be given in recognition of outstanding achievement. Awards may be in the form of books, plaques, subscriptions or money.  St. Peter's Awards - visit Guidance in June for details

Twenty TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are awarded to students in their last year of high school or CEGEP (in Quebec) who have demonstrated leadership in improving their community. Each scholarship has a value of up to $70,000 and includes:

  • Up to $10,000 for tuition per year (for up to a maximum of four years)
  • $7,500 a year for living expenses (for up to a maximum of four years)

30 Loran Scholars - 40 Finalist Awards, 40 Provincial Awards

Loran Scholars – up to $25,000 per year for 4 years
Finalist Awards - $3000
Provincial Awards - $2000

Horatio Alger Association  The Horatio Alger Association of Canada provides $650,000 annually in need-based scholarship support for deserving students in all Canadian provinces and territories.
